A valve tag is an engraved identification disc fitted to a valve — typically a 38–50mm circle wired through a mounting hole — marking the valve number and service so isolation and maintenance target the right valve every time.

Why engraved
The tag is the record.
A valve schedule is only as good as the tags on the valves. Stamped metal corrodes, printed labels fade in plant rooms and weather, and a tag you cannot read is a tag that gets the wrong valve closed. Engraved traffolyte keeps its contrast for decades — the text is cut into the material, not printed on it.
Tags come drilled the way you need them — one hole for wiring on, two for screwing down — in the standard service colours so tradies can read the system at a glance.
- ·UV, chemical, and heat resistant — plant rooms to rooftops
- ·Numbered series engraved individually, priced as one run
- ·Round, oval, rectangle, or tombstone — holes where you want them
- ·Electrically non-conductive — safe on switchgear and MCCs

Common questions
Quick answers.
What are valve tags and why are they used?
A valve tag is a small engraved identification label fitted to a valve handle or stem, usually wired or screwed on through a mounting hole. It identifies the valve number, the service it controls (chilled water, gas, fire), and often its normal position — so commissioning, fault-finding, isolation, and shutdowns happen on the right valve, first time.
What are valve tags made from?
Ours are laser-engraved traffolyte (engraving laminate) — a two-layer plastic where the engraving exposes a contrasting core. It is UV stable, chemical resistant, electrically non-conductive, and the markings cannot fade or rub off. 1.6mm thickness is standard for tags; it takes knocks and stays rigid.
What size and shape should valve tags be?
The common standard is a 38–50mm circle with a single mounting hole at the top, engraved with the valve number and service. We also make ovals, rectangles, and tombstone shapes — the designer previews each at true scale, and any size prices instantly.
Can you engrave numbered series like V-001 to V-250?
Yes — the designer has a number-series mode. Set the prefix, start, and end, and every tag in the run is generated and priced at once. Each tag arrives individually engraved with its own number. Letter series and custom lists work the same way.
How are valve tags attached?
Most are wired on through a 5mm mounting hole using stainless wire, ball chain, or cable ties. We engrave the hole positions you ask for — one hole, two holes, or none if you are fixing with screws or adhesive.
Is there a minimum order for valve tags?
No minimum. One replacement tag for a damaged valve costs the same per-tag as a full plant run, and volume discounts apply from 10 tags. Industrial schedules — hundreds of tags across multiple services — can be sent through the bulk quote with a spreadsheet.
