Board work in Adelaide
Battery and inverter boards, defence-sector panels, and winery switchrooms.
South Australia puts more generation behind the meter than any comparable market, and that lands on the board as labelling. Inverter supply identification at the main switch, multiple supplies warnings, battery isolation identification — Adelaide boards routinely carry supply-side labels that a board of the same age interstate would not, and the retrofit sets are a steady part of what we engrave for SA.
The rest is manufacturing and process. Panels for the northern corridor and the defence supply chain need legend plates and equipment identification engraved to a documented format, and the winery and food plants down south need switchroom boards labelled well enough that a relief operator can find the right pump circuit in vintage without asking anyone.

“Great service and communication”
“Hi recently had solar panels installed, but the installer did a messy job on my switchboard. The moved all the switches around, but didn't move any of the existing labels, and the new labels were just label maker and the terminology was non complaint (failed and Office of the Technical Regulator audit). I took it on myself to get professionally laser cut labels to replace the dodgy label maker/hand written and non-compliant language. RBZ3D was easy to use to make all the labels I need, shipped quick enough, and now the labels look so much better. Would definitely recommend and use again.”
“Treff labels supplied as requested, great job thank you”
On the escutcheon
The boards we label in Adelaide.
Every set is engraved to your schedule and sorted so it can be fitted in order — one board or a whole site.
Inverter & battery supply labels
Main switch inverter supply, multiple supplies warnings, and battery isolation identification for the retrofit sets SA boards need once storage goes in.
Winery & cellar switchrooms
Pump, press, refrigeration, and crusher circuit identification on switchroom boards — engraved text is unaffected by the washdown that lifts printed labels off a door.
Defence & manufacturing panels
Control panel legend plates and board identification engraved to a documented format for the northern corridor manufacturing and defence supply chain.
Commercial DB schedules
Circuit schedules, main switch labels, and RCD identification for Adelaide metro fit-outs, from single boards to a building's worth.
Legend cards & door schedules
The whole circuit list as one engraved legend card for the inside of the door — an alternative to individual labels where the escutcheon has no room.

Standards framing
Straight about what a label can claim.
AS/NZS 3000 clause 2.8 asks that switchboard labelling be permanent, legible for the life of the installation, and clear about which circuit and equipment each label identifies. Engraved traffolyte meets the durability and permanence requirements of that clause, because the text is cut into the material rather than printed onto it — there is no ink to fade and no film to lift.
Solar and battery — the one place testing is required
Solar goes further than AS/NZS 3000. The Clean Energy Council’s Advice on Labelling (Version 2, June 2023) requires any label exposed to direct sunlight to be UV resistant, demonstrated by passing IEC 60068-2-5:2018 — a 720-hour accelerated weathering test.
Section 3.1.1 of that document carries an exception: it does not apply to markings that are physically engraved, embossed or etched with durable markings. Engraving is exempt because the marking is the material — there is no printed surface to fade.
The practical difference: a printed or vinyl label in direct sun needs that test report to show it meets the requirement. An engraved one doesn’t. If your supplier can’t produce the report, you can’t demonstrate the label complies.

- ·That the material is “certified” or “approved”. There is no certification scheme for engraving laminate and no inspector approval scheme for labels. A supplier using those words is selling you a word.
- ·That a label makes an installation compliant. Compliance is the installation, the documentation and the person who signed it — a label is one durable part of that.
- ·What your board should say. Josh holds an electrical licence and is happy to talk it through, but the wording call belongs to whoever is responsible for the job.
Common questions
Quick answers.
What does a board need once a battery system is added?
The board generally picks up supply-side identification: an inverter supply label at the main switch, a multiple supplies warning, and identification for the battery isolation point, alongside whatever the installer's shutdown procedure calls out. Send the list or a photo of the board and the set comes back priced before anything is engraved.
Can you engrave a whole schedule as one legend card?
Yes. Where there is no room on the escutcheon for individual circuit labels, the full schedule goes on a single engraved legend card for the inside of the door — one plate, one price, and the text is engraved into the material rather than printed onto a card that yellows.
What does AS/NZS 3000 require on a Adelaide switchboard?
Clause 2.8 of the Wiring Rules deals with identification: switchboard labelling has to be permanent, legible for the life of the installation, and clear about which circuit or equipment each label refers to. Engraved traffolyte satisfies all three by construction — the text is cut into the material rather than printed onto it, so there is nothing to fade, peel, or rub away.
How do I send a whole board schedule?
Use the bulk tool in the Label Designer — one row per label, paste or type the schedule, and every label is priced as you go. If you would rather not type it, send a photo of the board or a copy of the schedule through Quick Quote and it comes back priced within one business day.
Who makes them, and where?
Josh, a licensed electrician, on one CO2 laser in Townsville, Queensland. Every Adelaide order is engraved to order here, checked, and shipped tracked — no outsourcing, no reselling somebody else's labels.
