Board work in Townsville
The workshop's home city — boards labelled by a licensed sparky, locally.
Every board label we ship anywhere in Australia is engraved in Townsville, by Josh — a licensed electrician who has wired and labelled boards himself. That matters most locally: a Townsville job can be designed in the morning, engraved the same week, and collected from the workshop rather than posted, and the person who cut it knows what an escutcheon looks like from the wiring side.
The local work is what North Queensland runs on — commercial fit-outs through the CBD and Thuringowa, workshop and site boards for mining services along the Mount Isa corridor, defence support contractors, port and marine boards, and residential meter boxes that face tropical sun and cyclone-season humidity. Boards up here fail identification early when the labels were printed.

“Great service and communication”
“Hi recently had solar panels installed, but the installer did a messy job on my switchboard. The moved all the switches around, but didn't move any of the existing labels, and the new labels were just label maker and the terminology was non complaint (failed and Office of the Technical Regulator audit). I took it on myself to get professionally laser cut labels to replace the dodgy label maker/hand written and non-compliant language. RBZ3D was easy to use to make all the labels I need, shipped quick enough, and now the labels look so much better. Would definitely recommend and use again.”
“Treff labels supplied as requested, great job thank you”

Every set is engraved to your schedule and sorted so it can be fitted in order — one board or a whole site.
Local commercial DBs
Circuit schedules, main switch labels, and RCD identification for Townsville CBD, Thuringowa, and North Queensland commercial boards — engraved and collectable from the workshop.
Mining services workshop boards
Workshop, wash bay, and site distribution board identification for the mining services businesses along the Mount Isa rail corridor.
Port & marine boards
Shore power, changeover, and distribution board identification for Port of Townsville operations and vessel maintenance, engraved to survive salt air.
Tropical meter boxes
Main switch and circuit identification for boards that cop western sun and wet-season humidity — engraved contrast does not fade the way printed labels do here.

Straight about what a label can claim.
AS/NZS 3000 clause 2.8 asks that switchboard labelling be permanent, legible for the life of the installation, and clear about which circuit and equipment each label identifies. Engraved traffolyte meets the durability and permanence requirements of that clause, because the text is cut into the material rather than printed onto it — there is no ink to fade and no film to lift.
Solar and battery — the one place testing is required
Solar goes further than AS/NZS 3000. The Clean Energy Council’s Advice on Labelling (Version 2, June 2023) requires any label exposed to direct sunlight to be UV resistant, demonstrated by passing IEC 60068-2-5:2018 — a 720-hour accelerated weathering test.
Section 3.1.1 of that document carries an exception: it does not apply to markings that are physically engraved, embossed or etched with durable markings. Engraving is exempt because the marking is the material — there is no printed surface to fade.
The practical difference: a printed or vinyl label in direct sun needs that test report to show it meets the requirement. An engraved one doesn’t. If your supplier can’t produce the report, you can’t demonstrate the label complies.

- ·That the material is “certified” or “approved”. There is no certification scheme for engraving laminate and no inspector approval scheme for labels. A supplier using those words is selling you a word.
- ·That a label makes an installation compliant. Compliance is the installation, the documentation and the person who signed it — a label is one durable part of that.
- ·What your board should say. Josh holds an electrical licence and is happy to talk it through, but the wording call belongs to whoever is responsible for the job.
Common questions
Quick answers.
Can I pick up switchboard labels in Townsville?
Yes. Every label is engraved here, so local orders skip freight entirely — collect from the workshop once the job is off the laser, or take local post if pickup does not suit — usually a day or two, though that is Australia Post's timing rather than ours. Production is still 1–3 business days once the artwork is confirmed.
Who actually engraves the labels?
Josh, a licensed electrician based in Townsville, on one CO2 laser. There is no outsourcing and no drop-shipping — the labels for a Townsville board and the labels for a Perth board come off the same machine, cut by the same person.
What does AS/NZS 3000 require on a Townsville switchboard?
Clause 2.8 of the Wiring Rules deals with identification: switchboard labelling has to be permanent, legible for the life of the installation, and clear about which circuit or equipment each label refers to. Engraved traffolyte satisfies all three by construction — the text is cut into the material rather than printed onto it, so there is nothing to fade, peel, or rub away.
How do I send a whole board schedule?
Use the bulk tool in the Label Designer — one row per label, paste or type the schedule, and every label is priced as you go. If you would rather not type it, send a photo of the board or a copy of the schedule through Quick Quote and it comes back priced within one business day.
Who makes them, and where?
Josh, a licensed electrician, on one CO2 laser in Townsville, Queensland. Every Townsville order is engraved to order here, checked, and shipped tracked — no outsourcing, no reselling somebody else's labels.
