Board work in Traralgon
Station boards, outage relabelling, and control room legend plates.
The Latrobe Valley runs boards that are older, larger, and better documented than almost anything else in the country. Station distribution boards, DC boards and charger panels, switchyard identification, and control room panels where the labelling is part of how the plant is operated rather than just how it is inspected. When those boards are relabelled it is usually inside an outage window with a fixed end date.
That timing is the whole constraint. Outage work is planned months ahead and executed in days, so the labels have to be on site before the crew is. Flag the outage date on a quote and the run is prioritised — production is 1–3 business days and express post reaches the Valley in around 2 business days.

“Great service and communication”
“Hi recently had solar panels installed, but the installer did a messy job on my switchboard. The moved all the switches around, but didn't move any of the existing labels, and the new labels were just label maker and the terminology was non complaint (failed and Office of the Technical Regulator audit). I took it on myself to get professionally laser cut labels to replace the dodgy label maker/hand written and non-compliant language. RBZ3D was easy to use to make all the labels I need, shipped quick enough, and now the labels look so much better. Would definitely recommend and use again.”
“Treff labels supplied as requested, great job thank you”
On the escutcheon
The boards we label in Traralgon.
Every set is engraved to your schedule and sorted so it can be fitted in order — one board or a whole site.
Station & auxiliary boards
Feeder, incomer, and auxiliary supply identification for station distribution boards and the contractors who maintain them — non-conductive engraved laminate, permanently legible.
DC boards & charger panels
Battery, charger, and DC distribution identification where the labelling has to distinguish supplies that look identical at the escutcheon.
Control room legend plates
Engraved legend and mimic plates for control panels — text cut into the material, so decades of handling do not wear it off.
Outage relabelling sets
Whole-board replacement sets prepared ahead of a planned outage, engraved as one run and shipped to site or workshop before the window opens.
Contractor-built boards
Escutcheon labels and complete schedules for boards built by Gippsland contractors, sized to your cutouts and consistent across the build.

Standards framing
Straight about what a label can claim.
AS/NZS 3000 clause 2.8 asks that switchboard labelling be permanent, legible for the life of the installation, and clear about which circuit and equipment each label identifies. Engraved traffolyte meets the durability and permanence requirements of that clause, because the text is cut into the material rather than printed onto it — there is no ink to fade and no film to lift.
Solar and battery — the one place testing is required
Solar goes further than AS/NZS 3000. The Clean Energy Council’s Advice on Labelling (Version 2, June 2023) requires any label exposed to direct sunlight to be UV resistant, demonstrated by passing IEC 60068-2-5:2018 — a 720-hour accelerated weathering test.
Section 3.1.1 of that document carries an exception: it does not apply to markings that are physically engraved, embossed or etched with durable markings. Engraving is exempt because the marking is the material — there is no printed surface to fade.
The practical difference: a printed or vinyl label in direct sun needs that test report to show it meets the requirement. An engraved one doesn’t. If your supplier can’t produce the report, you can’t demonstrate the label complies.

- ·That the material is “certified” or “approved”. There is no certification scheme for engraving laminate and no inspector approval scheme for labels. A supplier using those words is selling you a word.
- ·That a label makes an installation compliant. Compliance is the installation, the documentation and the person who signed it — a label is one durable part of that.
- ·What your board should say. Josh holds an electrical licence and is happy to talk it through, but the wording call belongs to whoever is responsible for the job.
Common questions
Quick answers.
Can you supply board labels ahead of a Latrobe Valley outage?
Yes, and it is worth ordering early. Flag the outage date on the Quick Quote form and the run is prioritised — production is 1–3 business days once artwork is confirmed, and express post reaches the Valley in around 2 business days, so the set is on site before the window opens rather than chasing it.
Do you engrave control room legend and mimic plates?
Yes — legend plates, mimic panel text, and selector plates with cutouts are all standard work. Send a drawing, a photo of the existing plate, or the dimensions and text, and it comes back engraved to the same size with the mounting holes where you need them.
What does AS/NZS 3000 require on a Traralgon switchboard?
Clause 2.8 of the Wiring Rules deals with identification: switchboard labelling has to be permanent, legible for the life of the installation, and clear about which circuit or equipment each label refers to. Engraved traffolyte satisfies all three by construction — the text is cut into the material rather than printed onto it, so there is nothing to fade, peel, or rub away.
How do I send a whole board schedule?
Use the bulk tool in the Label Designer — one row per label, paste or type the schedule, and every label is priced as you go. If you would rather not type it, send a photo of the board or a copy of the schedule through Quick Quote and it comes back priced within one business day.
Who makes them, and where?
Josh, a licensed electrician, on one CO2 laser in Townsville, Queensland. Every Traralgon order is engraved to order here, checked, and shipped tracked — no outsourcing, no reselling somebody else's labels.
