As soon as I had put my order in, Josh was on the phone to me to adjust a few things to make sure it was 100% right. Couldn’t ask for better service and transparency from designing all the way to picking up the labels.

Melbourne trades we serve

Built for Melbourne work.

Manufacturing & process

Control panel legend plates, motor starter IDs, isolation tags, and PLC I/O labels for the manufacturing belt from Dandenong to Laverton.

Commercial electricians

Switchboard schedules, main switch and RCD labels, emergency lighting and fire panel signage for CBD and metro commercial work.

Switchboard builders

OEM labels engraved to your schedule with consistent sizing across the run — supplied loose or on backing tape, ready for the production line.

Food & beverage plants

Valve tags, line labels, and washdown-tolerant equipment IDs — engraved traffolyte shrugs off caustic cleaning that destroys printed labels.

Infrastructure & rail

Asset plates, isolation point IDs, and safety signage built to outlast weather and handling on long-life infrastructure.

Standards framing

Straight about what a label can claim.

AS/NZS 3000 clause 2.8 asks that switchboard labelling be permanent, legible for the life of the installation, and clear about which circuit and equipment each label identifies. Engraved traffolyte meets the durability and permanence requirements of that clause, because the text is cut into the material rather than printed onto it — there is no ink to fade and no film to lift.

Solar and battery — the one place testing is required

Solar goes further than AS/NZS 3000. The Clean Energy Council’s Advice on Labelling (Version 2, June 2023) requires any label exposed to direct sunlight to be UV resistant, demonstrated by passing IEC 60068-2-5:2018 — a 720-hour accelerated weathering test.

Section 3.1.1 of that document carries an exception: it does not apply to markings that are physically engraved, embossed or etched with durable markings. Engraving is exempt because the marking is the material — there is no printed surface to fade.

The practical difference: a printed or vinyl label in direct sun needs that test report to show it meets the requirement. An engraved one doesn’t. If your supplier can’t produce the report, you can’t demonstrate the label complies.

What we will not tell you

  • ·That the material is “certified” or “approved”. There is no certification scheme for engraving laminate and no inspector approval scheme for labels. A supplier using those words is selling you a word.
  • ·That a label makes an installation compliant. Compliance is the installation, the documentation and the person who signed it — a label is one durable part of that.
  • ·What your board should say. Josh holds an electrical licence and is happy to talk it through, but the wording call belongs to whoever is responsible for the job.

Common questions

Quick answers.

How long do traffolyte labels take to arrive in Melbourne?

Production takes 1–3 business days, then tracked standard post reaches Melbourne metro in 3–5 business days — roughly a week end-to-end. Express post cuts transit to 1–2 business days when a shutdown or handover date is fixed.

Can you match an existing Melbourne panel's labels?

Yes. Send a photo of the existing labels and the text you need — we match size, colours, and layout so replacements and additions sit seamlessly next to the originals.

Where are the labels made?

Every label is laser engraved to order in our Townsville, Queensland workshop by a licensed electrician, then quality-checked and shipped tracked to Melbourne. No outsourcing, no drop-shipping.

Is there a minimum order?

No. One replacement label for a Melbourne switchboard costs a few dollars plus postage — or send a thousand-line schedule. Same designer, same engraving either way.

How do I order?

Use the online Label Designer to build and price your labels instantly, or send a label list, photo, or drawing through Quick Quote for a same-day-priced quote.
