Commercial electricians
Office fit-outs, retail, hospitality — switchboard labels, distribution board schedules, and emergency equipment signage for CBD and metro projects.
Strata & building services
Plant room signage, valve tags, meter panel IDs, and asset labels for residential towers and commercial building maintenance across the metro area.
Data centres & comms
Rack IDs, circuit references, UPS and generator changeover labels — non-conductive engraved laminate that stays legible for the life of the installation.

Standards framing
Straight about what a label can claim.
AS/NZS 3000 clause 2.8 asks that switchboard labelling be permanent, legible for the life of the installation, and clear about which circuit and equipment each label identifies. Engraved traffolyte meets the durability and permanence requirements of that clause, because the text is cut into the material rather than printed onto it — there is no ink to fade and no film to lift.
Solar and battery — the one place testing is required
Solar goes further than AS/NZS 3000. The Clean Energy Council’s Advice on Labelling (Version 2, June 2023) requires any label exposed to direct sunlight to be UV resistant, demonstrated by passing IEC 60068-2-5:2018 — a 720-hour accelerated weathering test.
Section 3.1.1 of that document carries an exception: it does not apply to markings that are physically engraved, embossed or etched with durable markings. Engraving is exempt because the marking is the material — there is no printed surface to fade.
The practical difference: a printed or vinyl label in direct sun needs that test report to show it meets the requirement. An engraved one doesn’t. If your supplier can’t produce the report, you can’t demonstrate the label complies.
Read the full breakdown → CER photo evidence and the CEC labelling guideWhat we will not tell you
- ·That the material is “certified” or “approved”. There is no certification scheme for engraving laminate and no inspector approval scheme for labels. A supplier using those words is selling you a word.
- ·That a label makes an installation compliant. Compliance is the installation, the documentation and the person who signed it — a label is one durable part of that.
- ·What your board should say. Josh holds an electrical licence and is happy to talk it through, but the wording call belongs to whoever is responsible for the job.
Common questions
Quick answers.
How long do traffolyte labels take to arrive in Sydney?
Production takes 1–3 business days, then tracked standard post from our Queensland workshop reaches Sydney metro in 2–4 business days — most Sydney orders arrive within a week end-to-end. Express post cuts transit to 1–2 business days.
Do you supply Sydney switchboard manufacturers in volume?
Yes. Repeat OEM runs, standing label schedules, and 30-day trade accounts are available for established manufacturers. Send a typical schedule through the Quick Quote form for volume pricing.
Where are the labels made?
Every label is laser engraved to order in our Townsville, Queensland workshop by a licensed electrician, then quality-checked and shipped tracked to Sydney. No outsourcing, no drop-shipping.
Is there a minimum order?
No. One replacement label for a Sydney switchboard costs a few dollars plus postage — or send a thousand-line schedule. Same designer, same engraving either way.
How do I order?
Use the online Label Designer to build and price your labels instantly, or send a label list, photo, or drawing through Quick Quote for a same-day-priced quote.
